Autumn, My Love…
The weather has been all over the place recently and honestly, it hasn’t felt much like summer since the heat wave we had back in June, at least not where I am. The rowan tree across the street has been covered in berries for a few weeks already, and I’ve seen no shortage of ripened blackberries whilst I’ve been out and about, all of which has left me feeling far more autumnal for the entirety of what was supposed to be the hottest season of the year. I’ve even spotted a few leaves already starting to change! Now whilst I would have liked summer to stick around a little longer, I’m choosing to take pleasure in all the sensual delights that autumn brings…
The flavours of foraged berries and windfall apples, baked into delicious crumbles and pies. The sounds of crisp leaves rustling in the wind or the feeling of them satisfyingly crunching underfoot. The visual delectation of changing colour palettes in the leaves. And the smells! Bonfires burning, spices cooking, cider mulling… Smells are notoriously difficult to describe, but that won’t stop them bringing back floods of Autumn memories from previous years in a wave of nostalgia. There is no denying that autumn is a feast for the senses!
Cold clear evenings wrapped up warm in cosy jumpers and scarves, enjoyed sat by a bonfire sipping on a hot chocolate whilst gazing up at the stars. A harvest abundance, days spent preserving food as pickles and jams. Pumpkin patches, pumpkin pie, pumpkin carving, pumpkin spice everything. HALLOWEEN! Comforting loungewear and even more comforting meals. Waking up to slow cooker porridge sprinkled with nutmeg and cinnamon. Puddle jumping – you’re never too old! Naps. Layering up clothes before heading outside. Adventure awaits! Or simply curling up with a good book, getting lost within its pages whilst the animal kingdom prepares for hibernation or flees, migrating south for the winter…
No matter how much you slow down, fall is a time when nature is still busy. The most dynamic season, at least in my opinion, it’s a season of constant change and with it comes constant inspiration.
What plans have you got for fall?

Completely agree, autumn is one of those seasons that is always filled with change and transition and I always love it after the summer. While spring is my favourite season, autumn is just beautiful, so I can’t wait for those golden leaves to start showing, that’s one of my favourite things to photograph come autumn, and then of course, the fun and excitement of Halloween too! – Tasha
It’s definitely a brilliant season to get out with a camera! Beautiful lighting, golden hues, and constantly changing scenes <3 Halloween is my favourite holiday so that helps 😉
So true! And yes Halloween is always so much fun!
Eeek this post has got me crazy excited for Autumn! It’s without a doubt my favourite season mainly because of Halloween!

I think Halloween might have a little bit to do with it being my favourite season too 😉 I’m super excited!
I’m actually really excited to get into Autumn now just because I’m fed up of this unpredictable weather (although saying that, we have great weather at the moment). Sadly, I’ll be back at university and starting my final year so will most likely be way too busy with work to even embrace the Autumn weather.
Loved the post and your photos are gorgeous!

Aww, you’ll have to find ways to embrace it on your way to and from uni! Even just taking the time to notice things on your way in, or walking a different way to class. You don’t have to spend long outside to really appreciate it 🙂
Thank you so much! <3
As much as I love the summer, it’s always sooo lovely being wrapped up nice and warm when it’s cold outside – snuggling up with some hot chocolate! Great read 🙂 xx

Yes! I think there’s a lot to appreciate about every season, but a lot of us tend to get so caught up in spending them all waiting for summer to come around again. It’s a shame, we miss a lot if we do that! <3
Ahh you made me soo excited for autumn! I love Autumn, it’s my favourite season! x
Glad to make you share my excitement 😉 I love Autumn too (as if this post wasn’t a giveaway) <3
I can’t wait for autumn either. I’ve gotta admit, my favourite thing about autumn is the photo opportunities. Everything looks so much more rustic, and arguably better, in autumn. I’m looking forward to the nights where it goes dark earlier (kinda getting into winter, I suppose), where I can light a candle when I get in from college and appreciate a good film or series on Netflix.
It’s certainly full of photo ops. I’m a huge fan of Autumn for that, it’s a photographer’s dream! Nothing beats a cosy candlelit evening either. Have you been watching any good series lately? 🙂
I love autumn! This post is so great and I’m glad everyone else seems as excited as me
Thank you! It’s a great season <3
This has made me so excited to get all my big chunky jumpers out and my scarves – I adore Autumn because of how cozy it is and, or course, Halloween like you mentioned. Best time of year in my opinion x
