Hello wildlings, it’s been a while!
There’s been a lot going on in my life since I last posted, and as such there are a lot of things to chat about, but I’ve been in a bit of a blogging slump. Not just blogging, the internet in general has lost it’s appeal and I’ve been enjoying time spent in the real world (crazy, right?). I’ve also been unsure what direction I want to take this blog in.
I still very much want to focus on building a connection with nature, but I also find myself wanting to write about the other things in my life that just don’t fit in here which has resulted in a bit of writers block, if I can call it that. It’s more like a mental block… It’s not that I have nothing to say, I have too much to write about and the majority of it doesn’t go with what I want this blog to be. I’ve been taking a ton of notes whenever inspiration strikes, so if I find myself writing a lot of posts that don’t fit here at all I’ll likely start a second blog that’s more lifestyle orientated. It probably sounds counterproductive to start something new when I haven’t been updating the blog I already own, but I’m a girl of many interests and they generally don’t seem to link that well together.
In fact, the majority of things in my life don’t fit at all with this blog… and it’s felt weird writing about things that I’ve done and trying to tie them into the nature theme, even when they do include it. I always feel like I’m missing parts of the story out and I am beginning to think that limiting myself is the problem. Another platform to discuss a much wider range of subjects would allow me to continue the story elsewhere, whilst keeping this blog as somewhere that hopefully inspires people to strengthen their own connection with the outside world.
As far as nature goes, today marks the start of 2018’s 30 Days Wild, and if you’ve been here a while you’ll know that it is this very challenge, set by The Wildlife Trusts, that inspired me to create this blog in the first place. I don’t know how I’m going to approach it this year, today I’ve mostly been enjoying re-discovering my own back garden after a lot of time away from home over the past couple of months… it’s amazing how much it has changed since I last spent some time out there! The weather isn’t great so I’ve not been feeling up for a long walk or anything like that, but I’m taking a moment to enjoy the luscious greenery that England’s wet weather enables. After some time in Spain it’s really made me appreciate the contrast between the two climates, but I could definitely do with a bit more sunshine to motivate me to go further afield 😉
Daily blogging won’t be happening as it just doesn’t fit in to my life at the moment, but I will be taking notes throughout the week and doing round up posts of a few days at a time. They will be maybe every 5 days, possibly every 10… it depends on my work load (which I’m still trying to organise since getting back to the UK).
Are you taking part in 30 Days Wild this year? Let me know in the comments! Bonus points if you’ve got a blog or YouTube channel for me to check out <3
